or NOT? That
is always a question with a fire arm. The good news is the Springfield XD .45 ACP
has two wonderful safety features that can answer that question
without ever having to slide the chamber back to check for a round.

Whenever you're in
doubt, if there is or isn't a bullet in the chamber, the firing
pin just underneath the rear sight is flush with the gun, and
the metal bar on top next to the ejector exit is flush, also. This
indicates no bullet in the chamber.

These two pic indicate
a bullet in the chamber, the firing pin is extended from the rear
of the gun and the small bar in front of the ejector exit is in
a raised position. Now, you know there's a bullet is in the
chamber ready for fire. In addition, when your gun is holstered,
all you have to do is reach down and feel the firing pin to know
whether or not a bullet is in the chamber. A great aid for
when you're in a dangerous confrontation and having to keep your
eyes forward on the subject (s), or in a no light situation.
