  My Guns

The Mini-14 rifle on the right is Jr's (my brother).

Further down the page is a link that displays the same rifle

after a make-over with new black furniture.

My AK-47 BEFORE with original wood furniture

AFTER with Tapco furniture

I love the new look with the red-dot sights !

Below are my Hungarian SA-85M one of the best if not the best AK-47.  Very accurate with just the iron sights.  Next to it on the right is my Russian SKS 10Rd clip with an after market folding stock, probably manufactured around 1954.

Same rifles, left side.  Both rifles shoot 7.62 x 39mm

Now, my Russian SKS w/20rd clip after I took off the folding stock and installed it with a TAPCO SKS T6 Collapsible Stock System with Spike Bayonet Cut.  I like it much better, now.  All though, I did fine the Tapco 20rd clip to be very cumbersome to change with one hand having to hold the bolt open, while the other hand had to release the mag ...or even to load with stripper clips. So, I reinstalled the original 10rd clip, within 2 seconds loaded 10 rds in with a stripper clip - much more efficient -especially, if your life depended on it in a combat situation.

Saturday at the shooting range 12/18/2010

Note: The first weekend I shot it with the folding stock set up (it was the way I bought it from the seller).  Whomever welded the scope mount on the dust cover, eventually found out as I did that the scope and mount is useless and will not hold zero installed on the dust cover.  It's way too volatile in the recoil for a scope to hold zero there.  So I ordered another dust cover to get rid of that welded on mount and will only use the iron sights.  Besides, SKS rifles aren't known to be used as a sniper rifle, it would help if it was front heavy, but it's not and shooting 7.62 39mm causes the front to wanna bounce up, after each shot.

12/18/2010 And it shoots like a dream.

After I had installed the new set-up on Thursday, I went to Evans Shooting Range in Huntington on Saturday to test it out at 100 yards (and to meet up with my friend, Delbert).  At first, I only loaded 5 rds in the mag to test fire making sure it was operating safely.  Then loaded the next 10 rds using a 10 rd stripper clip, and fired away, and to my surprise when I looked thru my spotter scope...

WALLA!  100 yards using only the iron sights
